YOUTH INITIATIVE: FOUNDED AND LAUNCHED
The first ever company wide youth initiative built to address the issues of young staff within the BBC. The initiative acts as a sounding board and R&D group for content which the BBC creates for youth audiences. This initiative was founded and launched DARCY THOMAS and was sponsored by Tamara Howe and the hr department.
Darcy decided to set up the group for young staff in 2014, after stating to Damian Kavanagh (of BBC Three) "young people create their own content, so why would we need the BBC? Young people need to help create our content with us!". This was during a live recorded internal seminar to launch BBC Three online. He was then asked by the BBC Three team to assist with the BBC Three strategy to go online, which is when he also launched the Youth initiative, which still runs today.
